3 Great Tools for Managing Your Social Media Activity

On the surface, managing social media for your business or organization seems easy. But once you delve into more than one social network, it takes time and resources to efficiently manage your social media marketing activities.

There are a lot of social media management tools out there today, some that are free and others that are not. Here are three of The Badger Group’s favorite tools right now:

Hootsuite is a social media management system. From one online dashboard, you can manage all of your social media accounts: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, and more. To have all of your accounts in one place helps you keep track of your activity, monitor mentions of your organization, and schedule posts in advance. Hootsuite has a free plan, which is a great option for a small business or nonprofit organization. If you need to manage more than five accounts (the free version’s limit), the Pro plan is relatively inexpensive.

Character count matters in your social media posts (on some networks more than others), so shortening the links you share is important. Bitly is a popular URL shortener. Not only does this tool shorten your links, but the service provides valuable stats on link clicks. You can see how many times your link was clicked on and the dates and times when it was clicked. If you shared the same “bitmark” on different social media platforms, you can compare performance across networks. As far as cost, Bitly is free.

TwubsIf you regularly participate in Twitter chats, you know how challenging it can be to keep up with the conversation. Twubs is a newer tool that helps you follow hashtag conversations. You can see a feed of tweets all using a particular hashtag. You can participate in a Twitter chat right on Twubs when you log in using your Twitter account and the chat’s hashtag will be added automatically to your tweets. You can also adjust the speed of the chat feed, a very helpful feature if you’re participating in a fast-paced discussion.
